Problem
When running xbmrcfg on a Windows server with certain recent Windows updates installed, issues may occur if a data drive is assigned to D:\.
During the configuration process, VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service) temporarily allocates a drive letter in order to capture in-use files (such as system state and user profiles). Due to the Windows update, instead of selecting the next free drive letter, VSS incorrectly attempts to use D:\ if present.
This results in the recorded configuration referencing an incorrect drive layout, leading to recovery issues with data on the D:\ drive.
The bug can also offline any applications installed on d:\ causing app issues, which are also listed in Windows Events. However, the application will be back online once the Cristie config has completed.
